ANALYTICAL STUDY OF SWARNA MAKSHIKA BHASMA

ABSTRACT

Swarna makshika bhasma is one among the commonest bhasma preparations which is widely prescribed by Ayurveda physicians. The complications of improperly prepared makshika bhasma are well explained in a detailed way in the classical Rasa granthas. The complications being mandagni, netra rogas, kushta, gandamala, koshtha baddhata, kshaya, krimi etc. Hence a standardized procedure of Shodhana, followed by marana is very much necessary. After procuring the bhasma, very specific bhasma pareekshas like Niruttha, Amla pareeksha told for the Makshika bhasma, NPST, AAS told for the Makshika were performed. The results were compared with the classical characteristics features told in Rasa granthas. The modern methodologies were analysed.
