ABSTRACT
The word Nano is derived from the Greek word meaning ―dwarf‖. Nanotechnology is the manipulation of matter defined as the multidisciplinary science of the creation of materials, devices, and systems at the nanoscale level with at least one dimension sized from 1 to 100 nanometers.[1] Nanotechnology is the manipulation of matter on atomic, molecular and supramolecular level. Its use in the fields of medicine and dentistry are termed as Nanomedicine and Nanodentistry respectively. The origin and concept of nanotechnology was attributed to the American physicist and Nobel Laureate Richard Feynman in 1959, and this was later carried forward by K. Eric Drexler in the mid1980s. From then, nanotechnology has found use in numerable applications which includes dental diagnosis, material and therapeutics.
