A REVIEW ON PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION OF CURCUMA LONGA, TINOSPORA CORDIFOLIA AND WITHANIA SOMNIFERA

ABSTRACT
By definition, „traditional‟ use of herbal medicines implies substantial historical use, and this is certainly true for many products that are available as „traditional herbal medicines‟. In many developing countries, a large proportion of the population relies on traditional practitioners. Although modern medicine may exist side-by-side with such traditional practice, herbal medicines have often maintained their popularity for historical and cultural reasons People are using herbal medicine from centuries for safety, efficacy and lesser effects. It is due to increase of awareness and knowledge about plants. Curcuma longa, Tinospora cordifolia and Withania somifera are indigenous medicinal plants and have large biodiversity in India. These plants are known to
contain various active principles of therapeutic values and to possess pharmacological action against number of diseases.
