ABSTRACT
The importance of herbs in enhancing the antidandruff effect of Climbazole and Zinc pyrithione has been studied. Certain herbs significantly chelate metals and salts in water and thereby enhance the permeation of antidandruff agents to the scalp. Our present study clearly demonstrated the sequestering benefits of Cassia alata, Wrightia tinctoria and Aloe vera and how these herbs enhance the AD performance of Climbazole and Zinc pyrithione. Although the above herbs may not possess strong antidandruff activity but can indirectly affect the efficacy. The above study clearly shows the importance of herbs and their multi-various role in the treatment of various diseases.
Keywords: Antidandruff shampoo, Cassia alata, Aloe vera, Ferrozine, Metal chelation.
