SELF NANOEMULSIFYING DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM FOR BIOAVAILABILITY ENHANCEMENT-A REVIEW
Lalit Rana*, Pramod Kumar Sharma and Dr. Vivek Chauhan
ABSTRACT
In modern drug discovery all the newly manufactured or discovered drugs are mostly water insoluble drugs. In other word all the newly discovered drugs are 80% lipophilic in nature. As oral route of delivery is most widely used for administration of drugs. So, nanoemulsion delivery system plays a vital role for the delivery of lipophilic drugs, provides better bioavailability by better absorption due to reduced particle size. SNEDDS consist of isotropic mixture which contains surfactants, natural or synthetic oils and co-surfactants upon mild agitation will form oil-in-water (o/w) nanoemulsion along with aqueous media. This review article includes types, merits and demerits, preparation, characterization, evaluation and application of self nanoemulsion drug delivery system.
Keywords: Bioavailability, Surfactants, Nanoemulsion, SNEDDS.
