Abstract

FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBAL PAIN GEL

ABSTRACT

The present research work has been designed for fulfillment of aim to formulation and evaluation of herbal pain gel. This research contains various parts of herbs (Curcuma longa, Ricinus communis, Eucalyptus globus, Seasmum indicum, Menthapiprata, Cinnamomum camphora, Gaultheria procumbens, Vitex negunda, Pinus longifolia, Boerhaavia diffusa) and their oil extracts. These herbal ingredients were equipped in preparation of formulation. The herbal gel was prepared by using the chemical via. Tween 80, sodium propyl paraben, sodium methyl paraben and required amount of demineralized water. Both the herbals part and the gelling part was mixed properly and the pH of the final formulations was adjusted to 6.8-7.2 by addition of triethanol amine dropwise. After the completion of evaluation parameters (physical appearance, pH, viscosity, spreadibility) and stability test as per ICH guidelines for 3 months under different temperature and humidity, it was analyzed that the formulation F-2 has better stability than the formulation F-1 and F-3. Further all the formulation was tested for the skin irritation test on rabbits and all the formulation show no skin irritation or any kind of reaction.
