EFFECT OF JALANDHAR BANDHA ON BLOOD PRESSURE OF YOGA SADHAKA

ABSTRACT
There are three types of Bandha. Jalandhar Bandha is one of the three important Bandhas which are essential required to be performed during kumbhak in Pranayama. It is performed for the upper part of the body. The detailed explation of the Jalandhar Bandha is given in Hath Yoga Pradipika. Present study was aimed to study the effect of Jalandhar Bandha on blood pressure. Thirty subjects were selected randomly from age group of 20 to 60 years. Blood Pressure was noted in subject before and after the performing Jalandhar Bandha and also measured after performed for a month. The collected statistical data was analysed by the Paired T- test. The result shows that there is highly significant
decrease in Blood pressure (Systolic and Diastolic Blood Pressure) in subject before and after the performing Jalandhar Bandha. So it was concluded that there is significant decrease in the Systolic and Diastolic Blood Pressure by performing Jalandhar Bandha for a month.
