A CLINICAL STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF PHALATRIKADI KWATHA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF DIABETIC RETINOPATHY

ABSTRACT
People with diabetes can have an eye disease called Diabetic Retinopathy. This is when high blood sugar levels cause damage to blood vessels in the retina. People with DR may need laser surgery to seal leaking blood vessels or to discourage other blood vessels from leaking. This DR can be taken as Madhumeha janya timira from ayurvedic point of view. The ayurvedic approach of the disease mainly concentrates on preventing the progression of the disease. With this aim clinical study was undertaken. The objective of the study is to assess the effect of Phalatrikadi Kwatha and Mahavasadi Kwatha in the management of Diabetic Retinopathy. After observing the results, it was concluded that both Phalatrikadi Kwatha and Mahavasadi Kwatha was found to be effective in slowing the further progression of the Diabetic Retinopathy.
