A SHORT TERM CLINICAL STUDY TO EVALUATE THE LOCAL EFFECT OF “CONTRAPAIN OIL” AND “CONTRAPAIN LEPA” IN THE MANAGEMENT OF FIBRO/MUSCULAR SKELETAL PAIN.

ABSTRACT
Fibro/musculo skeletal pains constitute an important factor for the absence from occupational works of middle and old age individuals with considerable costs for public health system. The present clinical study was designed to evaluate the effect of a patent ayurvedic preparation contrapain oil and lepa in the management of fibro/musculo skeletal pain. Summary of trial: 18 patients of both sexes, age between 20-80 years suffering fibro/musculo skeletal pain were taken randomly from OPD and IPD of R.G.G.P.G.Ayu. College, Paprola. These patients were asked to apply oil and lepa over the effected site for twice and once in a day respectively followed by hot fermentation for 7 consecutive days. The parameter of efficacy of
trial drug includes pain VAS, degree of severity of pain, tenderness, numbness and range of movements and wereassed both before and after treatment. Follow up were done after 7 days of trial. The trial formulation contain mainly Nirgundipatra, erandamoola, rasana, mahabala, shigru, punarnava etc. and was manufactured by M.B life sciences Pvt. Ltd. it was manufactured under GMP standards. Result: Clinical study revealed highly significant result on pain VAS range of movement and degree of severity of pain and statistically significant result for tenderness and statistically insignificant for numbness.
The drugs thus evidence based to be a safe treatment modality for improving the quality of life by reducing the symptom of fibro/musculo skeletal pain. The details shall be presented in the conference.
