ABSTRACT
In Ayurveda Swaras, Kalka, Kwatha, Hima and Phanta are the five basic kalpanas which are termed as Panchvidhakashaya kalpana, from which all other drug formulations are developed. These primary kalpanas are further divided into various ‘Upakalpanas’ for proper fast absorption of medicine, more stability and also to increase shelf life of drug than Panchvidhakashaya kalpana. Upakalpana followed main concept of Panchvidhakashaya kalpana but little bit difference in terms of dravya praman and method of preparation. As these kalpanas are based on Panchvidhakashaya kalpana it called as Upakalpana. Ksheerapaka kalpana is one of the unique dosage form of Ayurveda which is an Upakalpana of Kwatha kalpana. Ksheerapaka is useful as a medicament as well as nutrient. The preparation media (milk) helps
to reduce tikshnatva/toxicity of tikshna dravyas. Ksheearpaka Kalpana is used in jwara, kas, shwasa, hridroga, atisara, krimirog, vrana and shotha chikitsa. Present paper aimed to highlight the detail review about Ksheerapaka Kalpana.
