Abstract

STUDY OF ANATOMICAL CHANGES IN AARTAVAVAHA SROTASA OF PRAMEHI VANDHYA

ABSTRACT

Diabetes has became challenge for developing countries now a days. It affects the healthy genetic chain and also attributable to various anatomical changes in female reproductive system that causes primary and secondary infertility, premature menopause, secondary amenorrhoea. Diabetes affects the anatomy of female reproductive system by PCOD changes, Endometrial changes, Uterine fibroids as well as Tubal damages may seen which may leads to infertility. In Ayurveda fertile period of females is described from 12 yrs to 50 yrs by Sushrutacharya. Diabetes significantly shortens normal reproductive life of females by causing late menarchae and premature menopause. Prevalence rate for diabetes in Maharashtra is about 7%. This study basically contains the details of the Prakrut Aaratavavaha Srotas Sharir i.e.Tryavarta yoni sharir (Uterus, Fallopian tubes & vagina).The concept of Vandhya includes Female who can not reproduce, Primary infertility, Secondary infertility(Kakvandhya) and premature menopausal women. As described in Ayurveda Prameha includes shukra & rasa in its doshadushyasangraha & by word Pramehinam Aacharya Charak included both males & females. Hence we have (1)Dushti of Streeshukra directly in Prameha (2) Raj i.e.Aartava is Updhatu of Rasa (3) Klaibya i.e. Loss of libido in females is described in both dushties of Shukravaha and Rasavaha Srotasas (4) Aartavavaha Srotas dushti causes Vandhyatva, Maithunasahatva and Aartavanasha i.e. Amenorrhoea & Secondary amenorrhoea.
