ABSTRACT
Sydnones are unique nitrogenous compounds and chemically 1, 2, 3-oxadiazolium-5-olates. A large number of sydnones showed extensive range of medicinal values like antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, anti-arthritic, anti-pyretic, diuretic, antioxidant, analgesic, hypotensive, anticonvulsant, CNS depressant, anti-tubercular, hypoglycemic, anti-haemostatic and anthelmintic (ascaricidal) activities. Some sydnones are also commanding dopamine receptor inhibitors, respiratory stimulant, and CNS stimulant. This review article is mainly focus on anticancer activity of sydnone derivatives which will be helpful to young research scholars to design and development potent anticancer molecules having mesoionic sydnone moiety.
Keywords: Sydnone, 1, 2, 3-oxadiazolium-5-olates, Mesoionic, Anticancer sydnones.
