MOLECULAR COMPLEXES OF PARAQUAT WITH P-METHYL ANILINE IN SDS MEDIUM

ABSTRACT

Molecular complexes of Paraquat (PQ) with an Organic donor p-methyl aniline in Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) micellar medium have been studied spectrophotometrically. The entire complex exhibits one charge transfer band each in the region where neither of the components has any absorption. The formation constant of the complex have been determined by using Fronasiero and Grieser method. The extinction coefficient (ε) and apparent formation constant of CT complex have been determined by Rose-Drago method. The position of the CT-Bands in surfactant (SDS) are close to those of the CT-Bands in methanol.
