PHARMACEUTICAL STUDY OF SOMAL (ARSENEOUS OXIDE) SHODHANA AND ITS ANALYSIS

ABSTRACT
Somala is described in sadharan rasa as well as in malla varga, for the first time medicinal use of somala was found in samhita kala, it was named as phenashma & explained along with haratala & both of them are considered as dhatu visha. As somal is considered as visha & now a days, it is prepared & available in artificial form it should be subjected for shodhana prior to its internal use as medicine. In grantha, various shodhana methods of somala are found to be described. Present article deals with compilation of shodhana of somal & effect of shodhana on somala. somal shodhana has been done according to Rasachandaushu. It was found that after shodhana, somal loses its toxic effects and its inorganic from changes to organic.
