A CASE STUDY OF DUSHTA VRANA TREATED WSITH ARAGHWADADHADI KASHAYA PRAKSHALAN

ABSTRACT
Ever since the life originated, human beings has been susceptible to injury, which made him to think about healing from very early stage of development. Wound healing is mechanism where the body attempts to restore the anatomical & functional integrity of an injured part. Knowledge of Wound healing allows Surgeons to manipulate wounds to achieve optimal results in a short period. In Ayurveda non healing ulcer can be correlated with Dushta Vrana. Out of Sixty upkramas of vrana, Kashaya, varti, kalka, sarpi, taila, rasakriya, avachurana are meant for shodhan & ropan of vrana.For wound which emits bad smell, exude slimy fluids, purification & cleansing should be done especially using decoction of drugs having cleansing properties described in Dravyasangrahaniya Adhayaya (Shushrutasutra sthan 38) i.e. Aragwadhadi gana. Aragwadhadi gana kashaya was also explained in
Ashatanga Hrdaya Sodhanadhigana Samgrahaniya Adhyaya. The decoction of aragwadhadi group mitigates Sleshma & poison, cures diabetes, leprosy (& some other skin disease), fevers, vomiting, itching and most effectively cleanses the wound. A case report of an open traumatic ulcer successfully treated by Prakshalan by decoction of Aragwadhadi group has been presented here.
