MANAGEMENT OF VICHARCHIKA BY GANDHAK DRUTI FOLLOWED BY VIRECHANA: CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Generally skin diseases are chronic and recurrence is very common. In Ayurvedic literature all skin diseases were included under Kushtharoga. Kushtharog is mainly classified into two types i.e. Khsudra Kushtha and Maha Kushtha. Vicharchika is part of Kshudra Kushtha. Clinically Vicharchika is similar to eczema, which is also called as atopic dermatitis. It is characterized by dry itchy scaly skin. In acute phase eczema may be vascular and oozing. In chronic phase it becomes hyper pigmented and thickened. In modern medicine there is no specific medications for sure cure of eczema but symptomatic treatments like steroids are used; but they produce serious side effect like nephrotoxicity, skin cancer etc. modern medicine gives only symptomatic treatment. Ayurveda believes that all Dosha should be balanced for good body, mind and spirit. Ayurveda offers treatment for root cause of every disease. In present case study patient were first subjected to Koshtha Shuddhi which is done by Haritaki Churna orally at bed time for initial 15 days. Then after that Gandhak Druti, Arogyavardhini Vati, and Guduchighana Vati is given orally.
