ABSTRACT
vernonia cinerea was evaluated for in vitro anticancer activity by using Dalton’s Iymphoma ascites cells and Erlich carcinoma cells. In vitro study with EAC cells showed mild anticancer activity at the concentration of 200 μgm. aqueous extract of leaf showed 12% , stem extract showed 28% and root extract showed 24% of anticancer activity. DLA cells also showed mild anticancer activity at the concentration of 200μgm Aqueous extract of the leaf showed 12%, stem extract showed 22% and root extract showed 19% of anticancer activity. Here the concentration increases and also percentage of cytotoxicity increases. Concentration of the extracts is directly proportional to the percentage of cytotoxicity.
Keywords: vernonia cinerea Less, in vitro anti cancer activity. DLA method, EAC method, Aqueous extracts.
