ABSTRACT
Background: Phyllanthus niruri has shown various pharmacological activities (more specifically hepatoprotective) and commonly used in traditional medicine throughout the world. Aim: The study was aimed to perform the phytochemical analysis and determine antioxidant potential of P. niruri. Methods: This study includes qualitative and quantitative characterization of phytochemicals and antioxidants associated with P. niruri extract. Results: Aqeous extract of the plant possessed high antiodixant activity which could be due to presence of flavanoids and other phytochemicals as found in our study. Conclusion: The plant extract has antioxidant potential due to the presence of different phytochemicals such as phenol, flavonoid,
terpenoid, and saponin.
Keywords: Traditional Medicine, Phyllanthin, Antioxidant and phytochemical profiling.
