ABSTRACT
Pellets are a novel drug delivery system having many advantages over conventional dosage forms. The aim of the study is to formulate pellets loaded with arterolane maleate in order to produce prolong the release of the drug and increase its bioavailability. Pellets were formulated with extrusion spheronization method. The FTIR results concluded that there are no chemical interactions found between drug and polymers. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was done which showed smooth shaped pellets. Particle size zeta potential was done which showed the particles were obtained in the size range of 10 μm to 1000 μm.
Thermogravimetric analysis proved that the formulation is stable at normal room temperature and there are no chemical interactions. The formulation F6 showed the best entrapment 88.41 ± 0.05 and cumulative drug release 91.63± 0.23%. So formulation F6 can be considered as an ideal formulation.
