ABSTRACT
ART refers to assist people in achieving pregnancy. It covers a wide spectrum of treatments. Depending on the cause of infertility, the different types of treatment may be suggested under ART. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a medical procedure in which the eggs and sperm are combined outside the body. The drug called Clomiphene or Clomid and Serophene are highly recommended for infertility problems. Some hormones such as hCG (Pregnyl), FSH (Bravelle), hMG (Repronex), GnRH agonist (Zoladex), GnRH antagonist (Cetrotide) are also used to trigger ovulation. In Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), sperm are washed and injected in to the uterus using a soft plastic catheter. It is a painless process but may involve discomfort and bleeding. ZIFT (Zygote intrafallopian transfer) and GIFT (Gamete intrafallopian tube transfer):
The fertilized eggs are placed in the uterus of the mother after IVF within 24 hours, while in GIFT, the sperm and eggs are mixed before insertion. Surrogacy is a form of ART in which a woman (the surrogate) carries a child for another person or couple with the intention of giving the child to that person or couple after birth. To conclude, female infertility treatment is indeed a necessity for women who urge to get pregnant and want to start their own family.
