Abstract

ANALYTICAL METHOD DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION FOR SIMULTANEOUS ESTIMATION OF OLANZEPINE AND ESCITALOPRAM OXALATE BY USING HPLC AND UV SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD

Pramila Kale*, Abhay Deshpande and Ganesh Barkade

ABSTRACT

A HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography) and an UV Spectrophotometric method were developed and validated for the quantitative determination of antipsychotic and antidepressant drugs viz. Olanzepine and Escitalopram oxalate that constitute one of the first line regimens in bipolar therapy. The different analytical performance parameters such as linearity, precision, accuracy, specificity, limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were determines according to International Conference on Harmonization ICH Q2B guidelines. Chromatography was carried out by using hibarR 250-4.6 HPLC column purosphensR STAR RP-18 as compared to other different stationary phase. UV Spectrophotometric determinations were performed at 226 and 239 nm for Olanzepine and Escitalopram oxalate respectively. The linearity of calibration curves for each analyte in the desired concentration range is good (R2˃0.999) by both the HPLC and UV methods. The proposed methods are highly sensitive, precise, and accurate and hence were successfully applied for the reliable quantification of Olanzepine and Escitalopram Oxalate.

Keywords: Olanzepine, Escitalopram Oxalate, Simultaneous Estimation, UV spectroscopy, HPLC.
