ABSTRACT
Aim: The aim of the present study was to assess the effect of quercetin on liver fibrosis. Methods: Liver fibrosis was induced in wistar rats weighing 150-200gm using Carbon tetrachloride 1ml/kg I.P twice in a week for 56 days and Cisplatin I.P at the dose of 3mg/kg once in 2 weeks for 56 days. The degree of lives fibrosis was evaluated by comparing the Morphological character (liver size, shape, texture, weight) biochemical evaluation (AST, ALT, ALP, TB) and histopathology for assessing level of fibrosis. Results: The administration of quercetin significantly reduced liver weight, levels of serum enzymes as well as TB & also showed satisfying results in reversing CCl4 & Cisplatin induced lives fibrosis. Conclusion: From the present study it can be said that quercetin effectively treated liver fibrosis by inhibiting level of IL-6 & thus, HSC activation & ECM deposition.
