ABSTRACT
Standardization of Ayurvedic formulations of uniform quality is essential for beneficial therapeutic use which requires scientific analysis and standardization methods to compete with the modern medicine to globally. The quality control of raw materials is important to justify their acceptability in medicine. In the present study, an attempt was made to formulate in-house „Hingashtaka Churna‟ (HCIN) which was compared with some marketed preparations. (HC1, HC2 and HC3) The study included determination of various physicochemical and phytochemical evaluations of the formulations to find out its quality and purity of the drugs. Hingashtaka Churna were formulated by passing through mesh #40 and stored in a well closed
container with proper labeled. Preformulation parameters were carried out. Chromatographic analysis was performed on silica gel 60 F254 precoated TLC plates. It can be concluded that the raw materials were standardised in accordance with the standards laid down in Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India. From the results, we observed that, all the physicochemical properties were found to be within the prescribed pharmacopoeial limits. The results also demonstrated that, this standardization of Hingashtaka Churna will be helpful in obtaining a quality control profile of this formulation.
