ABSTRACT
Nocturnal asthma (NA) is also called as night time asthma. It occurs during night time by inflammation of airway. Night time asthma increases the total leukocyte count but do not change cellular components. The mechanisms of nocturnal asthma are intimately related to circadian rhythms, which influence inflammatory cells and mediators, hormone levels and cholinergic tone. This review introduces the various chronopharmaceutical technologies & recent pharmaceutical drug delivery for treatment of nocturnal asthma. Mostly sustained release formulation is used to manage the nocturnal asthma, because the half-life of β2 sympathomometic agent is short (Not more than 7 hrs). The key to success the management of nocturnal asthma using sustained release oral formulation of
terbutaline sulphate & salbutamol is more effective comparison to another β2 sympathomimetic agent.
