ABSTRACT
Objective: The aim of the present study was carried out the qualitative and quantitative determination of phytochemicals in Thevetia peruviana seed extract. Methods: Thevetia peruviana is one of the toxic plants under the common toxicological emergency. All parts of plants contains toxic substances like Alkaloids, Flavonoids, Terpeinoids, Cardiac glycosides. These secondary metabolites are qualitatively and quantitatively determined by various standard methods. Result: The preliminary phytochemical screening are carried out with four different solvents like Methanol, Acetone, Chloroform
and Ethanol. The ethanol extracts showed very strongly observed when compared with other solvent extracts. Conclusions: More active compounds will be screened from the selected plant of Thevetia peruviana and concluded that it used may be pharmaceutical or insecticidal purpose.
Keywords: Thevetia peruviana seed cake, phytochemical screening, quantification and spectrophotometer.
