ABSTRACT
Glimepiride is a first third generation sulphonyl urea agent for the treatment of type two diabetes.[8,9] glimepiride, sold under trade name Amaryl among others, is a medication used to treat diabetes mellitus type 2. in current work, a easy, delicate, correct, and economy spectroscopic technique has been progress for the assessment of glimepiride in bulk pharmaceutical dosage forms. methanol use as solvent. The drug below Beer’s law limit in the range of 5-25μg/ml. This technique is easy, quick and satisfactory. it is less preferred than metformin. use in recommended together with diet and exercise. it is taken by mouth. Glimepiride takes up to three hours for maximum effect and lasts for about a day. Elimination half life of glimepiride is 5-8 hours.[7] Glimepiride is used with aproper diet and exercise
program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes.[6] Glimepiride belongs to the class of drug known as sulfonylureas. Trade name of glimepiride is Amaryl manufacturer by sanofi-aventis.
