ABSTRACT
Rheumatic pain and post operative surgical pain is generally treated with Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) In the present research work it has been reveals to develop diclofenac sodium gel with a capability for both topical and systemic drug delivery. The gel was prepared by using Chitosan as a gelling agent. The formulations were examined for various Physico chemical parameters including characteristic properties, homogeneity, sprediability viscosity, pH and Drug content. The formulations containing 5 % of either menthol and glycerol 5% as permeation enhancers gave good analgesic activity. In
vitro drug releases pattern is carried out for 150 min. shown significant release Stability studies were carried out for three months periodically evaluated for Physico chemical parameters and indicating no significant changes.
Keywords: Diclofenac sodium, Chitosan, gel, rheumatic pain.
