FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBAL GEL CONTAINING EXTRACT OF NEEM SEED OIL

ABSTRACT
The objective of present study was to formulate Herbal Gel containing Neem seed oil. Neem seed (Azadirachta indica) oil was extracted from its seeds by soxhlet apparatus. Acetone is used as solvent. Carbopol 940p and Noveon AA1 were selected as gelling agent, methylparaben and Ethylparaben used as preservating agent. Herbal Gel was characterized for pH, viscosity, spreadability, In vitro drug transport study and in vivo antibacterial activity and shows satisfactory results. The In-vitro study was performed and batches with carbopol 940 and Noveon AA1 shows highest drug release. Antibacterial activity of formulation against E. coli Shows at concentration of 3%. Study release that Neem seed oil herbal Gel has potential for antibacterial
activity and used as topical preparation.
