ABSTRACT
Senescence is a complex biological process influenced by combination of endogenous or intrinsic and exogenous or extrinsic factors. Intrinsic and extrinsic factors act synergistically to induce skin changes that manifest clinically as burns, erythema, hyper pigmentation, skin dryness or sagging, coarse wrinkles, skin texture changes or eventually as skin cancer. Because of the fact that skin health and beauty is consider one of the principal factors representing overall “well-being” and the perception of “health” in humans, several anti-aging strategies have been developed during the last few years. Now a days cosmeceutical peptides and their derivatives are attracting growing interest, as an anti-senescence in the field of cosmetics. This review
summarizes some of the effective data on cosmeceutical peptides that work against intrinsic and extrinsic aging. Cosmeceutical peptides possess promising anti-senescence, wrinkle smoothing, and improve elasticity and collagen boost property.
Keywords: Skin aging, anti –senescence, cosmeceutical peptides, and collagen.
