ABSTRACT
We aimed to assess the relationship between drug dosage with distribution volumes obtained by pharmacokinetic methods. The drug group that we calculated doses were aminoglycoside. Apparent distribution volume is 25% of lean body weight. There are patient with atypical pharmacokinetic parameters which presented a large volume of adipose tissue, which must be monitored very closely. In the study patients who had a volume of distribution between 12 to 16.3 Kg/L showed a concordance between the dose calculated by the pharmacokinetic methods used, the difference between the two was 0.9 to 7.5 mg.35% Of patients in the study did not obtained ideal plasma concentrations In this case noted that volumes within a range showed a frank concordance of doses.
Keywords: volume of distribution, pharmacokinetic method, plasmatic concentration.
