It is well known fact that Rasaushadhis are the soul and essence of Ayurvedic treatment which is an alchemical fusion between metals, minerals and organic compounds along with Rasa(Parada). The present study includes preparation of bhasma considering the hypothesis mentioned in classical texts which indicates the details regarding bhasma kalpana as bhasma and sindura comes under Rasaushadhis group the compounds containing bhasma and sindura are regarded best effective treatment .since it is mentined that Rasaushadis are administered in very small quantities are fast acting, tasteless, odorless and potent. The use of metals can be traced to the remote past which civilization was gradually developing amongst mankind. No doubt metallurgy as a distinct science has been ushered in only very recently but the historical records show that the ancient people were the well acquainted with the process connected with the extraction of metals. Ancient Acharyas and Rishis of India were the first to suggest the use of metals for therapeutic purposes. Ample evidence of this is found in the ancient texts of Ayurvedic materia medica. It will not be wrong to say that the knowledge of medicinal use of metals migrated from India to the various part of the world. Surprisingly however most of these metals have been still used successfully in the Indian system of medicine. During 16th-17th century AD. When these metals are utilized for internal administration (metabolic transformation) the different procedures of loha marana came in to existence and gradually developed towards bhasma kalpana denoting the verse. Bhasmas prepared through different measure have been shown in the paper to show the effectiveness of bhasma prepared by using Hg is considered as best one from pharmaceutically and therapeutically point of view. The latest pharmaceutical appliances and technologies are adopted in the study for obtaining a safe, genuine, effective, assimiable, absorbable and colloidal bhasma.
