ABSTRACT
Amoxicillin is a broad spectrum beta lactam antibiotic which is widely used in the treatment of microbial infections in developing countries like India where poverty and poor hygienic conditions are the leading cause of infections. The adverse reactions due to amoxicillin intake include hypersensitivity reactions (example- Steven Johnson’s syndrome, Toxical epidermal necrosis, and Contact dermatitis), Purpura, generalized edema, anaphylactic reactions, mild fever, and leucopenia to severe arthralgia. Toxical epidermal necrosis (TEN) is a severe cutaneous adverse drug reaction that involves skin and mucous membrane. It is mostly caused by antibiotics like sulfonamides, and others, anti convulsants, in bacterial infections, vaccination. This case
report will be helpful in understanding the identification and management of amoxicillin TEN.
