ABSTRACT
A Study was carried out to isolate and to identify the microorganisms associated with computer keyboards. In microbiology laboratory Idhaya college for women, Swastic Diagnostic center, Greens Palamuthircholai, Annapoorna Hotel, Infotech Computer center located in Kumbakonam. The samples collected were cultured with nutrient agar medium for further identification. All five samples were found contaminated with pathogenic bacteria (E.Coli, Staphylococcus Sp., Proteus Sp., Klebsiella Sp.,). It is recommended that regular cleaning with disinfectants (Formalin & ethanol) in computers reduce the microbial load, especially for Multi-user workstation. The disinfectant formalin wipes highly effective in removing and inactivating microbial contamination.
