DEVELOPMENT OF UV AND RP-HPLC METHODS FOR ESTIMATION OF CURCUMIN
Muni Raja Lakshmi K.* and B. Jeevana Jyothi
ABSTRACT Objectives: To develop a simple, precise and reproducible UV Spectrophotometric method and RP-HPLC method for the determination of Curcumin. Methods: For UV Spectrophotometric method the solvent used was acetone and water and for RP-HPLC method methanol was used as mobile phase. Results: It was found that the wavelength of curcumin corresponding to maximum absorbance at 421nm and 254 nm for UV and RP-HPLC method respectively. Conclusion: UV method obeyed Beer’s Lambert’s law in the range of 0-10 μg/ml with a regression of 0.995 and RP-HPLC method developed was linear in the range of 5-50 μg/ml with a regression of 0.995 which is close to unity. These two methods was validated for reproducibility. Keywords: Curcumin, UV spectrophotometry, RP-HPLC. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
