ABSTRACT
The prime objective of the present study was to check theincrease in solubility and dissolution characteristics of Valsartan drug. Itis an antihypertensive drug poorly soluble in aqueous media. As the bioavailability and pharmacological response of the drug is greatly influenced by solubility and dissolution, therefore it is essential to discover novel method in order to improve the therapy. Present study investigates the effect of nanocrystals of Valsartan on solubility and dissolution characteristics.Nanocrystals of the Valsartan were prepared by using antisolvent precipitation technique using polymer like PVP K30 and PEG-4000 as a cryo-protectant and solvent acetone. The preparedformulations were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, X-ray Diffraction Study and Scanning Electron Microscopy.Solubility and dissolution study was performed to check the enhanced properties of nanocrystals of Valsartan. It was observed that, Valsartan nanocrystals exhibited significantly faster solubility and drug dissolution as compared with conventional from of a drug. The optimized ratio of Valsarton immediate release tablet found to be 1:5.It was found that, formulation of nanocrystals of Valsarton show increase in drug release profile this is due to increase in a solubility and dissolution characteristic of a Valsarton drug.
