ABSTRACT The present study was undertaken in patients of gynaecological malignancy to evaluate the status of oxidative stress and antioxidant defence mechanisms. The Protein carbonyl (PC), Total lipid hydroperoxide (LOOH) and Total thiol (T-SH) levels in patients with gynaecological malignancy including carcinoma cervix, endometrium and ovarian were studied. Newly diagnosed women with gynaecological carcinoma [N=150], 30-75 years of age and agematched clinically healthy women [N=50] were included in the present study. Result: Circulating plasma total lipid hydoperoxides and protein carbonyl levels were significantly [p<.0.5] higher in patients as compared to controls where as total thiol content was significantly [p<.0.5] elevated in gynaecological malignancy patients as compared healthy controls. Keywords: Hydroperoxidation, gynaecological malignancy, Protein carbonylation, Total thiol. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
