THERAPEUTIC POTENCY OF SIDDHA HERBOMINERAL PREPARATION SIDDHADHI ENNAI ON GYNAECOLOGICAL DISEASES – A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Siddha is one of the Indian systems of medicine which is widely practiced in Tamilnadu, India. Siddha insists to lead a healthy life both physically and mentally by keeping pace with the laws of nature. Siddha have classified 4448 diseases, based on the three humoral pathologies. Siddhadhi ennai, a Siddha sastric herbomineral formulation comprises of 12 ingredients. It is indicated for many diseases including gynaecological diseases such as amenorrhoea, dysmenorrhoea, leucorrhoea and menorrhagia. This review is aimed to bring out scientific evidence for the therapeutic usage of ‘Siddhadhi ennai’ especially on gynaecological diseases and focused on the
pharmacological activity responsible for the curative nature of the drug. Most of the drugs have emmenogogue, anti-spasmodic, anti-microbial and antifertility activity hence justifying its usage in above mentioned disease.
