ABSTRACT

The species of the Cryptococcus neoformans are commonly observed in the environment, especially in places with high presence of birds’ excreta. This yeast, in turn, play na important role in public cryptococcosis agent. The most majority of cases of isolation of C. neoformans in hospital environment are in patients imunossuppressed or carries of the HIV virus. The principal objective of this study was promote a systematic review, to evaluate of number of cases of C. neoformans coming from the environment of Brazil. For the study, we used complete articles and studies that deal with the isolation of C. neoformans in environmental focus in the Brazilian territory and that had cohesive statistical data for analysis. Of 362 potentially eligible studies, 34 met the criteria and inclusion and inclusion and exclusion. In which 8,8% (3/34) were reports from the North region, 2,9% from the Northeast region (1/34), 52,9% from the Southeast region (18/34), 11,8% from the Midwest region (4/34) and 23,5% from the South region (8/34). Of a total of 4.176 samples reported in the 34 studies, it had a positivity in 878 samples (21,0%). Among the regions that were analysed, a Southeast ern region stood out because it presented the largest number of studies and consequently the largest number of positive samples for C. neoformans.
