RACHANATMAK STUDY OF JANU MARMA USING CADAVERIC DISSECTION TECHNIQUE

ABSTRACT
Marma is very important point in the body. Total numbers of marmas are one hundred and seven in number. Marma concept is mentioned in Sharirsthan 6th adhyaya of Sushrutsamhita by Sushrutacharya. Vagbhatacharya have also elaborated the concept of marma in Ashtang Hriday sharirsthan 4th adhyaya. Both the acharyas have mentioned a variety of marmas. The categorization is based on four types by Sushrutacharya. It is given as marmavargikaran as per Shadanga (Location), Rachana (Structure), Parinam (Injury effect) and Pariman (Measurement). Rachanatmak taxonomy of marma is based on five elements as Mansa, Sira, Snayu, Asthi and Sandhi. According to the basic definition of marma as per Sushrutacharya in the 6th adhyaya of Sharirsthan, the marma is the place where Mansa, Sira, Snayu, Asthi and Sandhi are jointly present. Janu marma is present in the
adhoshakha of sharir in between leg and thigh. So, it is obligatory to see the basic components as per the definition of marma given by Sushrutacharya with the help of cadaveric analysis method. So this can actually identifies the modern correspondence of these five fundamental structures.
