DATURA – DISEASES AND CHEMICAL CONTROL: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Medicinal plants have shown tremendous potential for the development of the new drug molecules for various serious diseases. Datura belongs to solanaceae family. Major constituents of Datura are hyoscyamine and hyoscine. Datura stramonium exerted antiepileptic, anti-asthmatic, analgesic, antioxidant, antimicrobial, insecticidal, repellent and organophosphate protective effects. Datura metel is well known for its insecticidal, herbicidal, antifungal, antibacterial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatoid activity. Datura is
also rich in alkaloidal compounds. The current review highlights the chemical constituents and fungal diseases and their control.
