Abstract

A REVIEW: HOME REMEDIES FOR DIABETES

ABSTRACT

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by an increase in blood glucose level resulting from increased hepatic glucose production, reduced insulin secretion, and impaired insulin action. The number of plants described in this review is easily available at home particularly in India that is used in the treatment of diabetes. Herbal formulations are preferred due to low cost, lesser side effects, and longer shelf life. The effects of these plants may delay the development of diabetic complications and correct the metabolic abnormalities.
