ABSTRACT
A simple, accurate and precise UV-Visible Spectrophotometric (UVVIS) method has been developed and validated for analysis of Benzalkonium chloride both as the bulk drugs and in formulations. Analysis of Benzalkonium chloride was performed at 517 nm. Regression analysis data for the calibration plots were indicative of good linear relationships between absorbance and concentration over the range of 1-5 ug/ml. The correlation coefficients, R2, were 0.999. The values of slope and intercept of the calibration plots were 0.062 and 0.216 respectively. The method was validated for linearity, accuracy, and precision.
Keywords: Benzalkonium chloride, UV-Visible spectrophotometric method, eye drops, accuracy, precision.
