Abstract

TREATING POST SALPHYNGECTOMY INFERTILITY WITH AYURVEDA- A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT

Infertility is defined as failure to conceive with atleast one year of regular unprotected intercourse. It affects about 14% of couples, Infertility reasons great distress to many couples, causing growing numbers of them to seek expert fertility care. There are many causes of infertility including male and female factors. It is the most common problem which suffers the couples from having children. Many treatments have been available with different success rates. They include fertility drugs, intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI), donor insemination (DI), egg (or embryo) donation and surrogacy. Scientific advances in the 1960s and 70s, specifically the development of immunological serum tests for human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) and ultrasonography, enabled gynecologists to accurately diagnose ectopic pregnancy. As diagnosis and management has improved, there has been a dramatic increase in survival. There are conditions where there will be implantation of fertilized matter in outer to uterine cavity which will be called as ectopic pregnancy. It can be in fallopian tubes or cervix or peritoneal cavity. Such cases needs surgical termination of pregnancy to avoid complications. Infections like TORCH also cause infertility. Discussing such a case which was ectopic pregnancy operated and resulted in post salphyngectomy infertility with TORCH positive. This was treated with ayurvedic medicines and resulted successfully in conception. Presenting a case study with successful result with ayurvedic medicine.
