REVIEW ON ANALYTICAL METHODS OF METFORMIN HCL AND ANAGLIPTIN

ABSTRACT

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that occurs when pancreas is no longer able to make insulin or insulin which is produced not used by body properly. Anti- Diabetic drugs mainly classified in 1.Insulin Preparations and 2.Oral Hypoglycemic Agents. Metformin and Anagliptin are both Oral Hypoglycemic Agents. Metformin belongs to Biguanide and Anagliptin is from DPP – IV inhibitor class. Combination of Metformin HCl and Anagliptin gives synergistic effect and also improve Homa-β Index. Many analytical methods developed for Metformin HCl and Anagliptin. Metformin is official in IP, USP and BP and other methods like RP-HPLC,UV, Spectrophotometric and HILIC-MS/MS are also developed. Anagliptin is not official in any pharmacopeia but ELISA, 1M NMR, LC/MS, UV developed for Anagliptin. In combination for both First order derivative UV method is developed until now.
