Abstract

A REVIEW OF AYURVEDIC AND MODERN ASPECT OF NEWBORN FEEDING SHEDULE AND ITS IMPORTANCE

ABSTRACT

Newborn feeding shedule is described by both ayurvedic and modern texts in detail. In ancient texts, Acharyas gave prime importance to care of newborn (Navajata Shishu Paricharya) which starts from birth to full stability of newborn which includes breast feeding. Various Procedures, importance and schedule were advised in the management of newborn feeding by Acharyas with a few differences in opinion. The modern Paediatrics also describes breastfeeding is the best nutrition for human infants along with its importance.
