Abstract

STUDY ON CULTIVATION OF PLEUROTUS SPP. ON DIFFERENT AGRICULTURAL WASTE SUBSTRATE AND ITS NUTRACEUTICALS ANALYSIS

Arvind K. Sharma*, Dr. Archana Shrivastav and Dr. A. M. Jana

ABSTRACT

The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of various agricultural waste materials on the biological efficiency, yield and nutraceuticals values of edible mushroom after cultivation. Pleurotus spp. as Pleurotus ostreatus, Pleurotus eryngii and Pleurotus florida were cultivated on three different agricultural wastes residues namely as Gram’s straw (S1), Peas’s Straw (S2) and Pearl millet stem cuttings (S3) for its yield, biological efficiency and analysis of nutrceuticals values. Highest biological efficiency was recorded on substrate S1 (79.08 %) for Pleurotus florida and lowest in substrate S3 (50.19%) for Pleurotus eryngii. Total carbohydrates 42.79% (S1), moisture 90.45 % (S2) total ash 9.66% (S1), phosphorus content 960 mg/100g (S3) and crude fiber 21.16 % (S3) were recorded for Pleurotus florida. While in Pleurotus eryngii was estimated with high crude fat 3.15% (S3), Ca 32.45mg/100g (S1) and Na 11.20 mg/100g (S1). Highest protein 26.89% (S1), magnesium 15.96 mg/g (S2) and potassium content 185.2 mg/100g (S3) were recorded in Pleurotus ostreatus.

Keywords: Pleurotus species, Agro waste residues, Biological efficiency, Nutraceuticals analysis.
