ABSTRACT

Victory of aquaculture depends on healthy cultured stockwhich it can be maintained by feeding live food. In an aquatic ecosystem, these live food organisms constitute the most valuable resource for aquaculture. Most of the fish and shellfish larvae in nature feed on small phytoplanktonic and zooplanktonic organisms because, live food organisms contains all the nutrients such as essential proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and fatty acids. In the present investigation deals with the morphometric and biochemical analysis of muscle tissue of fish Labeo rohita against live feed (earthworm) and wheat bran for a period of 60 days. The results showed that, comparatively highest length (14.6±1.3 cm) and weight (30.0±1.5 g) observed in fish during fed with live feed and simultaneously the lowest length (14.1±0.9 cm) and weight (28.0±1.4
g) observed in wheat bran fed fish. Likewise, biochemical parameters such as protein, amino acids and carbohydrates significantly increased and simultaneously decreased total lipids were observed when fed with live feed. It also indicates highest record of protein, amino acids and carbohydrates and lowest record of total lipids in muscle tissue of fish Labeo rohita when compared with wheat bran fed. The weight and length of the fish was highly improved when compared with artificial feed. The results suggested that the live feed could be help to increase the body growth developer of the Labeo rohita.

Keywords: Labeo rohita, protein, carbohydrate, lipid, live feed.
