Dr. Arun Kumar S. Bilodi and Venkatesh Karthikeyan*

ABSTRACT

Aim of the study: To report a case of inconsistent structure observed in an unknown Indian dry human skull possessed by a first year M.B.B.S of Velammal Medical College &Hospital, Anuppanadi, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. Place of study: Department of Anatomy: Velammal Medical College & Hospital Anuppanadi, Madurai in Tamil Nadu, India. Period of study: This study was done in year 2014. observation: Carotico-clinoid foramen was observed in the Anterior Cranial Fossa, and it is medial to the anterior clinoid process and lateral to the tuberculum of sella turcica. There was presence of middle clinoid process and horizontal bar of bone extending between anterior clinoid process & middle clinoid process located posterior to the optic canal and anterior to the pituitary fossa. Well marked bony prominences are present. Conclusion: The horizontal bar of bone connecting two clinoid processes may give rise to compression, of the Internal Carotid Artery and other neurological complications. So it has profound neuro-surgical importance. Hence it is studied and reported.

Keywords: Carotico-Clinoid Foramen, Carotico-Clinoid Ligament, Internal Carotid Artery, Compression, Anterior Cranial fossa, Horizontal Bar of Bone, Caroticoclinoid bridge.
