SURVEY OF KNOWLEDGE AND AWARENESS ABOUT CEREBRO-VASCULAR-STROKE AND ASSESSMENT OF QUALITY OF LIFE AMONG COASTAL ANDHRA URBAN POPULATION

ABSTRACT

There is a decrease in health related quality of life in patients suffering from Cerebro Vascular Attack. The present study is to assess the awareness on stroke and health related quality of life in Stroke (CVA) patients by providing Awareness and SS-QOL questionnaire along with self management and counseling form (SMCF). It is a cross sectional observational study conducted in General Medicine and neurology Department of a tertiary care hospital. The duration of the study is 6 months. Awareness and SS-QOL questionnaire and SMCF were developed and statistically validated. Patient’s data was collected and statistical analysis was performed and checked for awareness, risk factors, warning signs and Quality of Life. In the Cerebro Vascular Attack patient’s majority of them are males (63) and, the patients 41- 60 years are more prone to STROKE. 70.83% of patients are showing sudden numbness and weakness. The patients with HTN are more prone to occurrence of stroke. 56.37% patients were not awareness of stroke and its risk factors and warning symptoms. The SS-QOL survey shows that patients QOL had been majorly affected after stroke, and were showing loss of their psychological, physical stability. The patients were given SMGF guidelines to increase in health related quality of life.
