A LITERARY REVIEW ON LAUHA KALPAS

ABSTRACT

Rasashastra is a science which deals with the pharmaceutics of medicines out of Mercury, Minerals, Metals, Gemstones, animal products etc. Lauha Kalpas are preparation of Loha Bhasma and herbal drugs. (Loha Bhasma in mixed with otherchurnas or bhasma) Lauha Kalpas are important preparations whose reference are scattered in various Rasashastra texts like Rasendrasara Sangraha, Bhaishajyaratnavali and So on. Lauha Kalpas are used since many years in treating various diseases like Pandu (Anemia), Kamala (Jaundice), Krimi (Worms), Vatarakta (Gout), Kushta (Skin disorder) etc. The current article is to highlight the different example of Lauha Kalpas & its theurapetic usage which is mentioned in Rasashastra texts.
